October 15 – 21st has been designated by the province of Ontario as Local Government Week and was established to increase youth and public awareness about the role local government plays in our communities.

Thanks to the generosity of students, staff and school communities, the Kenora Catholic District School Board has surpassed the $100,000 mark in donations for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Today the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released school board results for Grades 3 and 6 assessments in reading, writing and mathematics, Grade 9 applied and academic mathematics as well as results for the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

Eric Sundmark, a graduate student from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, is leaving his mark in athletics in men's volleyball and he is excelling in the classroom at Douglas College where he is currently taking Business.

Families in Kenora will have additional opportunities for quality, licensed child care in the fall. The Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) and the Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) are pleased to announce a new partnership with Kenora Association for Community Living (KACL) to open a Kids' Zone Child Care Center at Pope John Paul II School.

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is hosting a Welcome Night for students and families. At the Welcome Night you will learn about the school's outstanding academic, arts and athletics programs as well as specialized programs and pathways available for all students. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Over 40 students in Grades 9 – 12 from St. Thomas Aquinas High School will bring a prom to the residents at Pinecrest this Saturday.

Ontario's unprecedented investments in education have pushed the high school graduation rate to a historic new high, as more students than ever before are obtaining a high school diploma and gaining the skills and experience required for the jobs of tomorrow.

There is a new art installation in the chapel at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. The 16-foot fused glass mosaic mural blends the Catholic Graduate Expectations with the Grandfather Teachings. Approximately 40 students worked on the art piece, under the guidance of Artist in Residence, Betty Wires.

Registration is complete, and approximately 300 people will be participating in the 2017 Family Art Jamboree on Saturday, April 29th at Pope John Paul II School.
