Access eBooks for Free

Kenora Catholic is committed to offering unique and progressive learning opportunities to our students. We have successfully introduced eBooks to our students, and now we want to extend the opportunity to staff and families.

Our eBook process is called Sora, a Japanese word meaning 'sky'. Sora is free reading APP that is accessible to families and students 365 days of the year.

Why eBooks?

Consider the books in Sora's collection as an extension to Kenora Catholic's physical Learning Commons (libraries), only it is online, with 24/7 access to both eBooks & audiobooks. It is convenient for students to check out titles at home, on weekends or during school breaks with no worry about misplacing a book or running up late fees. The digital titles automatically return at the end of the two-week lending period.

eBooks can encourage students of all ages to read more and improve their reading comprehension. Struggling or reluctant readers, second language learners, and gifted readers can all benefit from this service.
Here are some additional benefits:

  • Adjustable text & preference options
  • 3,000 plus Audio Books, Juvenile & Young Adult fiction titles, plus high-interest, and non-fiction choices
  • Incentivized reading with fun avatars and achievement rewards
  • You can link & search your SORA - KCDSB catalogue and the Kenora public library digital catalogue at the same time
  • We are part of the Northern Ontario Catholic Schools Shared Collection consortium, which increases our collection size & title access
  • French titles available
