Sing

Let's Sing! Kids singing with parents

Did you know that the number of words a child hears affects their IQ, their school performance, and their future? It can be argued that children aren’t born smart, but rather they are made smart by their families talking to them. So go ahead and be long-winded. In fact, talk your head off to your child, and try to comment on and discuss anything that you see, are experiencing, or that pops into your head.

And don’t just talk. WHY STOP THERE? SING!

Research also finds that children who are exposed to music, every day, do better in reading and writing. Does that mean you can just blast the Spotify tunes to have them become an excellent reader? Sorry, but research has found that playing pre-recorded music doesn’t cut it. It’s time to grab the banana from the fruit bowl as your microphone and start belting it out…to your child. Go ahead, tap their legs to the beat, or dance with them, as you sing with them! Just remember: If you can’t sing well…sing LOUD!

And don’t worry - your kid is not judging you…yet.

Remember: FORGET ABOUT STEPS….COUNT YOUR WORDS INSTEAD!!
