KCDSB Summer Learning Program 2021Virtual Summer Learning

Kenora Catholic is now accepting registrations for our fun, interactive and highly engaging Virtual Summer School Program! Our programs are appropriate for all learners and are designed to boost children's numeracy and literacy skills in a fun, virtual camp-like setting.  The programs focus on increasing well-being, connection, a sense of community, and student achievement through play, exploration, challenges and activities. Faith values are infused into all aspects of the program.

Program Dates and Structure

The program is three weeks, from July 5 - July 23, 2021.  This program will be based on addressing gaps in literacy and numeracy skills for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8.  Our Grade 7/8 program will focus on preparing students for the Grade 9 de-streamed numeracy program that is being implemented across the province in the fall.

Each day students will connect with a teacher for two hours of synchronous learning scheduled in learning blocks throughout the morning between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Instructional Support and Technology

The Summer Learning Program allows students to continue their connection with teachers for scheduled blocks of synchronous and asynchronous learning through a portion of the summer. This ongoing connection to teachers and peers allows for literacy and numeracy skill building, the growth of peer relationships, maintaining routine and structure and a continued love of learning. Students also are able to engage in virtual field trips, coding, experiential and outdoor learning opportunities.

Students will have access to board-supplied technology (iPad/Chromebooks) as well as technical support throughout the program.

French Immersion

Pending registrations, we hope to offer French Immersion programming for students to continue to enhance their language skills through interactive classroom activities.
