Retirement Announcement for Corinna GlazierCorinna Glazier with Students from St. John SchoolThe Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) extends heartfelt gratitude to Principal Corinna Glazier for her dedication and service at the KCDSB and wishes her the very best in her upcoming retirement from St. John School (SJS). Corinna's retirement will begin on January 1, 2025, marking the conclusion of a well-served 20-year career.

Since Corinna’s initial years with the Red Lake Area Combined District Separate School Board, which amalgamated into the KCDSB in 2009, Corinna has been a steadfast pillar of the St. John School community, dedicating the last eight years to her role as Principal. Her journey, inspired by her own experiences in Catholic education and a deep-rooted passion for nurturing student learning and development, has been nothing short of inspiring. Corinna's commitment to a faith-based educational approach, seen through a Christ-centered lens, has left an indelible mark on the SJS community.

During her time at SJS, Corinna has significantly contributed to the enhancement of student learning through various initiatives. As principal, she nurtured the Leader in Me program, expanding leadership opportunities for both students and staff. She also supported the implementation of the Nature School program, recognizing the diverse learning needs of children. Corinna was an early adopter of inquiry-based learning in Kindergarten and integrating technology across classrooms. Recently, she has focused on embedding the 7 Grandfather Teachings into everyday instruction and school culture, with plans to align these teachings with Catholic virtues in the near future.

In 2022, Corinna received the Principal of the Year Award from the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario, provincially recognizing her leadership and contributions to Catholic education. In 2015/2016, Corinna was honoured with the Director’s Award of Excellence for her outstanding work as a teacher.

The decision to retire opens a new chapter for Corinna. “My retirement will allow me the flexibility to focus on my family, pursue personal interests, and continue contributing to the community through part-time work and volunteering. I wish to extend my gratitude to past and present students and staff of SJS, our families, my colleagues, and fellow principals, whose support and camaraderie have been instrumental in making my career both memorable and fulfilling.”

“While we respect Corinna’s decision, her absence will be profoundly felt,” says Nicole Kurtz, Director of Education. “She has worked tirelessly as a servant leader to advance student achievement and well-being and create the warm, inclusive, welcoming, family-like atmosphere at SJS, often taking on additional responsibilities and tasks to ensure that her school community had everything needed to flourish. We are grateful for her dedication and the foundation established under her leadership at St. John School. As Corinna embarks on this new journey, we celebrate her dedication, accomplishments, and the positive impact she has had throughout her career.”

Please join us in extending best wishes to Corinna Glazier, a true embodiment of excellence in Catholic education.
