Media ReleaseThe Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) successfully negotiated a new Collective Agreement that represents Education Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and Lunch Hour Monitors. The agreement was reached on November 23, 2020 and will run through until August 31, 2022.

“Despite the challenges caused by the current COVID-19 situation, our negotiating teams were able to meet virtually to reach a settlement that brings stability to our system during an unprecedented and evolving pandemic,” said Teresa Gallik, Chair. “This agreement is recognition that we value the contributions our staff make to the health, safety and educational experience of our students. We will continue to work in harmony as we live our Catholic vocation of Growing, Investing and Engaging, supporting our students in reaching their full potential.”

“We are extremely pleased with the work of our negotiating teams in reaching an agreement that benefits our employees while being affordable for the Board,” says Derek Haime, Director of Education. “Our students and families rely on our Education Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and Lunch Hour Monitors, and we value their work in our schools.”

The agreement was ratified by OPSEU on December 2, 2020, and the Board of Trustees on December 15, 2020, and concluded negotiations.
