Director Haime Gifted Healing FeathersDirector Derek Haime and Jeffrey WhiteTrustee Jeffrey White made a meaningful tribute to Dr. Derek Haime, Director of Education, at his final Board Meeting on December 15. Trustee White gifted two healing eagle feathers to Derek Haime, in grateful recognition for his leadership during the past two years.

After the Trustees went around the boardroom table and said farewell to Director Haime, the presentation concluded with Jeffrey White’s gifting of the sacred feathers.

“On behalf of all the First Nation students, all students that we love and support and care for and staff and families, within the Catholic School system, I want to say a big Meegwitch from all of us for what you’ve done. What you have done is going to continue. There are smart people here. Congratulations to you in your new role, and we wish you the best in the next chapter in your life. I wish you and your family well. You and your family will always be welcome in the Kenora Catholic family as well as the Treaty #3 Nation, which you speak so fondly about when you talk, and I think that says a lot about your heart.”

Derek Haime is leaving his post as Director of Education at the end of December and has accepted a position at the Ontario College of Teachers as the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer.
