Parents, students and staff have an understandable interest in knowing when a COVID-19 positive case has been identified in their school.
In alignment with the
Ministry of Education guidelines, this page will be updated on a continuous basis with information concerning confirmed cases of COVID-19 involving a student or a staff member at the Kenora Catholic District School Board.
It is important to note that a confirmed case at a school does not mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at the school. The individual may have been exposed elsewhere in the community.
If public health orders that a class, cohort or school should be closed for a period of time, parents/guardians, students and staff will be notified immediately. Notice of any closures of classes, cohorts or schools will also be posted on this page.
An outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired the infection in the school (including transportation and before and after school care).
For reasons of privacy, we will minimize sharing personal information about any case and will direct others to avoid identifying individuals.

(Kenora, December 7, 2020) – Under the Northwestern Health Unit's direction, we are pleased to re-open all of our Grade 8 classes at St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Monday, December 7, 2020, and welcome our students back to school for in-person learning.
Everyone must continue using the online school screening tool before attending school each day and following all health and safety guidelines.
Thank you to our families, students and staff at St. Thomas Aquinas High School for working with public health throughout the contact tracing process and following recommendations and instructions. We are working closely with the Northwestern Health Unit to manage risks in our schools associated with COVID-19.
As we have since the beginning, we are committed to putting everyone's health and safety first as we continue to navigate this unprecedented situation.
