Within our KCDSB community, strides have been achieved through the implementation of our Math Achievement Action Plan. The focus has been on creating consistency in Math instruction across all school communities, with a positive response from educators embracing a board-wide digital tool. Notably, over 65% of Grade 3, 6, and 9 classrooms have integrated this tool into their math classrooms.

To further enhance our educators' capabilities, intentional professional learning opportunities have been a key focus. During our Numeracy Professional Development Day in October, all Grade 1-8 teachers participated in collaborative grade-level groupings within their division panels. Additionally, we have secured an important partnership with the Teacher Learning Innovation Initiative, providing educators with the opportunity to build community through in-school collaboration and explore an instructional math tool for Kindergarten to Grade 3.

Another accomplishment lies in the implementation of our Early Years Math MATmatics partnership in elementary school communities. Schools have launched the intervention program, targeting Grade 2 and 3 students and effectively closing gaps in their mathematical understanding. This initiative plays a crucial role in supporting both students and educators in a meaningful and intentional way, ensuring academic achievement for all.

As we move forward with our Math Achievement Action Plan, the focus will be on building stronger connections to gain a better understanding of student achievement in numeracy. Simultaneously, efforts will be directed toward expanding our knowledge and use of assessment tools, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring accessibility for all in numeracy. The journey continues as we remain committed to the ongoing progress and success of our Math Achievement Action Plan.
