St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Pope John Paul II School are looking to build friendships between Grades. A Grade 10 Religion class has been visiting a Grade 5 class at PJP to encourage a sense of unity between the high school and elementary students.

"The cool thing is that when these students come to TA, the older students will be in Grade 12," said Grade 10 Religion teacher Dallis Novelli. "So instead of coming into the school and being really intimidated by the older students, we're hoping those friendships will remain and they'll actually know someone in an older Grade."

The students have worked together on a number of projects including creating inspirational posters that will be hung up at Pope John Paull II School. Grade 10 student Chloe Skead teamed up with Grade 5 student Melanie. Skead spoke about the project.

"We decided to make it colourful because Melanie really liked the rainbow idea. Being able to hang out with the younger students has been really fun," she said.

In between projects the students have also been able to just hang out with each other playing games like Guess Who and HedBanz, a game where you have to guess what card you have in your headband by asking questions of your peers.

Novelli says the partnership has really created a sense of family between the two Grades.
