There were plenty of smiles hidden underneath moustaches at St. John School on Friday, Nov. 16th.

"We did a "No Shave November" as a fundraiser," explained Grade 7 student, Vera Clarke. "Our teacher printed out moustaches and we cut them all out and we sold them in the main lobby."

"My favourite part was getting to hand out the moustaches to see how excited the kids were," said Clarke. "They seemed really happy and excited because some people got plenty of moustaches, they put them around their face and they looked pretty funny. Everyone was having a good time seeing what moustaches they had and what other kids had."

Teacher Kate Crough said the idea was suggested to them after they saw another school take part on social media. Students in her class then brainstormed where they wanted to donate the money to and the hospital was their first choice.

"Giving money to the hospital is great a benefit to our community and everyone in it and we need a new X-ray machine so it could go towards that," said Clarke.

While they're still waiting on the final tally, they'd already reached $170 as of Friday afternoon.
