St. Thomas Aquinas High School's Mountain Biking Club is in its 8th year running. Teacher, Barry Kraynyk talks about why the program got started. "I am a mountain biker and I thought how cool it would have been when I was in high school to have a mountain biking club. The club is geared towards getting out, having fun, developing biking skills, getting fit, learning the trail systems and meeting new people. We also enter competitions when we can and take the club on the road to West Hawk, Dryden or Thunder Bay to explore other trail systems."

Ben Michael Woods is a Grade 11 student in the club and talks about why he joined the Mountain Biking Club. "I do mountain biking back in Falcon Lake and I really enjoy it so I decided to join the club at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. It's a lot of fun to go out after school and meet people and learn the trail system. It's also pretty great because you get to help out the younger students."

The program is open to students in Grades 7 - 11 and currently has 10 students who participate in the club. Predominantly a spring sport, the program runs September and October and then starts again in the spring. During the winter Barry will be researching opportunities for Mountain Biking Races that the club can participate in, in the spring.
