On Monday March 20th the 4/5 and 5/6 classes had a wonderful time dog sledding in Vermilion Bay. Borealis Dog Sled Adventures led the expedition. Before the kids set off on the dog sleds, they were able meet all the dogs including a few of the puppies that are being trained to be sled dogs. Once the supplies were loaded up, three dog sledding teams took the students to a clearing, where they cooked lunch over a campfire. Students enjoyed learning outdoor winter survival, commands and traditional practices of the dog sled, and fire safety.
