At the September 22nd Board Meeting, grade 12 student Jieren Bornia received her Rite of Commissioning as the new Student Trustee for the 2016/17 school year. Religious Education and Family Life Coordinator, Mariette Martineau, led Jieren through the Commissioning process.

Jieren was invited to light her candle from the Christ Candle and at that point, Jieren pledged to be a willing and joyful messenger of the Good News of God in her school, parish and local community. Jieren also pledged to bring Christian leadership to her fellow students and to strive daily to live the values and teachings of Jesus Christ.

At this meeting Jieren provided her first presentation as the new Student Trustee for the 2016/17 school year. You can watch Jieren's presentation here:

Each year a grade 12 student is elected from the student body to be the new Catholic Student Trustee for St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

The Student Trustee attends the monthly Board Meeting and provides a report on the notable school activities, sporting events and social justice initiatives happening at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. The student trustee is an important link between the Board of Trustees and students.
