McKenzie Pecore and Jayme Redsky, both grade 6 students at École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys, created the winning logo that will be used on Health Action Team initiatives and communications.

"The criteria that we provided to students at the beginning of the contest was that the logo designs had to represent Catholicity as well as different aspects of wellbeing", says Sue Devlin Mental Health Lead for the Board. "Our Health Action Team is really pleased with the student engagement through this contest and all the amazing logos that were designed by our students. It was a really difficult decision."

Students Jayme Redsky and McKenzie Pecore teamed up to create the winning logo. The team went on to explain the deep meaning behind their artwork. "We incorporated physical fitness in our logo by showing someone running, the music note represents that you can listen to music and make yourself feel better and there is also a peace sign in the note. We added the cross to show the importance of believing in God or supporting your own beliefs. The heart has God's hands around it as everyone needs love in their heart and also needs to be loved. The tree with apples represents how trees provide us with oxygen and apples are healthy food. We put the words HAT in the logo so it pops out."

Both Jamey and McKenzie will be awarded with a $100 gift card that can be used for anything that promotes wellbeing such as music lessons, ski hill passes or a family dinner night.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board's Health Action Team is focused on creating healthy school environments through the promotion of physical, mental, social and spiritual development and wellbeing.
