At the Board Meeting of May 15, 2018, held at St. John School, Phyllis Eikre, Director of Education announced the appointment of Jamey Robertson as the new Vice Principal at Pope John Paul II School and Marnie Buffett as the new Early Years Coordinator. The appointments will be effective, September 2018, at the start of the new school year.

On Friday, April 20th, students and staff cleaned-up 220 pounds of garbage in neigbourhoods around their school for Earth Day 2018.

Students and staff at Kenora Catholic have made over 650 liters of soup, 72 dozen muffins and countless sandwiches since September to help feed the hungry within the community. Staff members bring in various ingredients to contribute to making the large pots of homemade soup, and various classes throughout the board dedicate time to preparing meals.

The Saint's Cheerleading Team is bringing home national gold. They won first place in the senior small novice division in the Cheer Evolution National Championships over the weekend in Niagara Falls, April 6 – 8th.

Grade 12 students, Kellen Willis and Ben Woods, are heading to the provincial Skills Ontario Competition on May 7 – 9th in Toronto.

St. ThoOFSAA Swimming TEammas Aquinas's Gabe Mastromatteo is returning to Kenora as a provincial champion. The Grade 10 student won gold in the Open division 100 m breaststroke at the Ontario Federation of School Athletics Association's championships in Toronto this week.

Families in Kenora will have even more opportunity to access quality, licensed child care in 2018, thanks to $403,336 in funding provided by the Ministry of Education through the Early Years Capital Program.

The school boards of Northwestern Ontario have teamed up to offer families a Regional Kindergarten Registration Week for 2018.

Students at St. Louis School will have a new outdoor learning environment when they return to school in September. The Kenora Catholic District School Board has allocated $240,000 within the Capital Plan to upgrade the existing playground, fulfilling the vision of students.
