Dear Students, Families, and Staff,

As the Christmas season unfolds around us, bringing with it a time of joy and reflection, I wish to extend a warm and heartfelt message to each one of you. This special time of year reminds us of the importance of love, peace, and joy, values that resonate deeply within our school community.

This year, the theme of Catholic Education Week, "We are called to love", holds a particularly special significance. It echoes our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, guiding us as we strive to build stronger, more understanding relationships within our community. Through prayer, commitment to love, and embracing our differences, we continue to pave new paths forward, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all.

As we celebrate this festive season, let us find inspiration in words from the Bible, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests" (Luke 2:14). These words not only embody the Christmas spirit but also mirror the values we cherish in our educational journey.

To our dedicated staff, your tireless efforts and unwavering dedication have created a foundation of excellence and compassion in our schools. To our wonderful students, your enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn inspire us every day. And to our supportive families, your involvement and encouragement are vital to the success and well-being of our community.

Our students at the Kenora Catholic District School Board love the magical time before Christmas. We posed a question: ‘If you could give a gift to baby Jesus, what would it be?’ Their answers are as unique and precious as they are. Watch this video showcasing the pure-hearted responses of our students during this festive time of the year:

As we come together to celebrate Christmas, let's remember the teachings of Christ, who showed us the way of love and kindness. Let's carry these values into our lives, both inside and outside of school, and continue to be beacons of hope and inspiration to each other.

I am truly grateful for every one of you and wish you a blessed and merry Christmas. May this season fill your hearts with love, peace and joy, and may the coming year bring you renewed strength, happiness, and success in all that you do.

With warmest regards and blessings,

Nicole Kurtz,
Director of Education
