In a gathering of spiritual reflection and stewardship, Kenora Catholic Trustees convened on December 8 and 9 with representatives from the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association for a transformative Trustee Retreat and Spiritual Development Session.

The retreat provided a crucial opportunity for Catholic School Board Trustees to step back and contemplate their significant governance role. As stewards of faith-based education, trustees hold the key to guiding the course for the Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB). This retreat aimed to provide them with the necessary tools and insights to effectively navigate the evolving and complex landscape of education.

OCSTA RetreatThe Faith Formation Session brought a profound spiritual dimension to the gathering, underscoring the importance of anchoring educational leadership within the foundation of faith. Trustees completed Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Our Faith, and received a certificate. Through insightful discussions, trustees explored ways to infuse these values into their decision-making processes.

Vice Chair Paul Landy commented on the session. “What a great retreat. It made us all realize why we a not only a Trustee, but a Catholic Trustee – as there is a distinct difference. The knowledge and experience that Pat, Nick and Anne brought to the table gives us a better understanding of our role in Catholic education and why it is so important in the communities we serve.”

Special appreciation goes to Pat Daly, Nick Milanetti, and Anne O'Brien for leading the retreat, leaving an enduring impact on the group. Their guidance and expertise have enriched the vision and commitment of Kenora Catholic Trustees to the enduring value and gift of Catholic education.
