On February 20, Principal Erin Hercun, accompanied by four students, showcased the vibrant Living Arts programs at St. Louis School during a KCDSB board meeting. The group, consisting of Abby Loon, Charlotte Neufeld, Frankie Buffett, and Desmond Hercun, presented various initiatives that celebrate the volunteers who are vital to the success of the Living Arts programs at St. Louis School.

Beekeeping Program Flourishes
Entering its fourth season, the beekeeping program has been a hive of activity, offering over 150 workshops and fostering a close partnership with local beekeepers Garry Wiebe and Ingrid Braun. This program not only teaches students about the ecological importance of pollinators but also reinforces their role as responsible citizens.
Choir Celebrates a Decade of Harmony
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the St. Louis choir, involving 31 students, continues to be a source of joy both within the school and the broader community. Under the direction of Lenard Whiting, the choir has performed in various community events and is preparing for its performance at the Kenora Festival of the Arts.
Visual Arts Program Expands with Pottery
With the introduction of pottery, led by Artist in Residence Aimee Baldwin, students have been exploring their creativity through clay. The program challenges students to think critically and creatively, important skills outlined in the Catholic Graduate Expectations.
Drama Enriches Student Experience
Drama remains a cornerstone of the school’s Living Arts curriculum, with students currently preparing for their spring musical, "Fraggle Rock". Directed by Edward Franko, the program has been instrumental in enhancing students' theatrical skills in an engaging and fun manner.
Piano Lessons Strike a Chord
Piano lessons continue to enrich the school’s musical offerings, with instructor Ingrid Lowen dedicating time each week to nurture students' musical talents. This program complements the school's robust arts curriculum, allowing students to explore and develop their musical abilities.
