A Long Standing Tradition

All staff of the Kenora Catholic District School Board started the new 2016/17 school year with a
long-standing tradition - gathering for mass as a school community on the first Professional Development Day of August 29, 2016. All the Kenora staff attended mass at the Notre Dame Church and the staff from St. John School gathered at St. John the Apostle Church in Red Lake.

"Starting our new school year with a mass, where everyone is together in Church is a very important part of our culture and traditions, says Phyllis Eikre, Director of Education. "It allows us to center ourselves in our Catholic faith and pray together as a Catholic school system."

Following the mass, Phyllis talked about the important system priorities and goals for the new school year. She spoke about innovative learning opportunities for students, genuine professional development opportunities for staff and assessment and evaluation procedures.
