The Kindergarten children at St. Louis School recently participated in a very special tradition, apple pie baking with a special guest. Every year for many, many years the Kindergarten children at St. Louis school invite a grandparent, Kokum, aunt, uncle or a parent to join them.

"Each child gets to prepare their own little pie. They get to roll the dough, peel the apples and sprinkle in the cinnamon and brown sugar. The pies are baked right at school. At the end of the day everyone gets to take their pie home and enjoy it," says Tamara Bond, Early Childhood Educator.

Here are just a few of the comments shared by the Kindergarten students:

"Grandpa and I did a good job of our pie. I shared it with him and we had vanilla ice cream mixed with it."

"I made my pie with Grandma. I liked cutting the peels off the apple."

"I like making apple pie with Nanny."

"The children absolutely love this tradition," says Theresa Clarke, Kindergarten Teacher. "Tamara and I really enjoy the children's excitement when they welcome their special person into the classroom. The smell of the pies cooking is so wholesome. It's something that we look forward to every year and it's a lovely tradition. It's really nice to spend time with the families and see the joy the children and guests are sharing while working together making their pies."

A very special thank you to all the Kokums, grandparents and parents that spent time at St. Louis School enjoying this very special tradition.
