On Friday, October 16th the Kenora Catholic District School Board will be celebrating and hosting a Fall Feast. The opening ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m. with drumming and a smudge. The Fall Feast will take place in the Pinecrest skating rink in front of the Catholic Education Center at 1292 Heenan Place.

"Hosting the Fall Feast is a tradition that respects and celebrates the changing of seasons and is an opportunity for us to give thanks for the abundance that we are blessed with", says Shelly Tom, Aboriginal Resource Teacher. "We have over 450 students confirmed to be in attendance from all of our Kenora Catholic schools and it's a wonderful opportunity for us to build community and celebrate together. We are also inviting our neighbors to join us as well."

Howard Copenance, an Elder from White Fish Bay First Nation will be leading the opening ceremonies and the drum group from St. Thomas Aquinas High School will be providing the drumming.

Glen Seymour from Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation will be MCing the event.

To respect the cultural importance of this event everyone who is planning to attend the Fall Feast is asked to be in attendance at 11:30 a.m. for the opening ceremonies.

All guests are asked to dress warmly as it is an outside event.
