All the Kenora Catholic District School Board staff started the 2015/16 School Year today on August 31st (the Professional Activity Day) by gathering for mass in Kenora at the Notre Dame du Portage Church and a prayer service at St. John School in Red Lake. The morning centered around this year's Catholic Education Week Theme: Opening Doors of Mercy.
"This is a very important tradition for us as a Catholic School system", says Phyllis Eikre, Director of Education. "We ask that all of our staff, in every role, gather together for mass at the beginning of the school year. It allows us to celebrate our Catholicity and really start the school year together by focusing on our values".
