Scavenger hunt Team Awesome PeopleStudents, parents and community members were busy searching Red Lake during the first ever community-wide scavenger hunt hosted by St. John School during Catholic Education Week.

It was an exciting and eventful adventure for 19 teams. Student Owen Glazier was one of the students who helped organize the event.

"My favourite part of the scavenger hunt was how much of the community came together and all the different creative costumes," he said. "The things you had to find were kind of fun. My teacher is new here. She had no idea where anything was so we helped our teacher, Mrs. Coombs."

Dalmatians scavenger hunt team Owen said students helped organize the event by putting up posters to spread the news and approaching businesses to ask for donations for prizes.

"My friend Maddox and I went to the school the day before the scavenger hunt. We made big thank you posters for the donations. We had names of everyone who was helping," he said.

The scavenger hunt was a huge success with many teams coming up with creative costumes. Red Lake residents may have seen a family of Dalmatians fishing for suckers, a troop of unicorns sliding down a slide, or a group of 80's rockers squeezing themselves into a phone booth.

The proceeds raised from the event will go towards next year's Grade 7 and 8 Toronto Trip.
