Gift BagOn Friday, June 23rd the Kenora Catholic District School Board celebrated another amazing school year with the Year End Celebration and Awards Ceremony. The event was hosted at Pope John Paul II School in the gymnasium. The celebration focuses on the celebrating the retirees, the recipients of services award and staff that have made extraordinary contributions to the student achievement and their schools throughout the year.

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated leadership skills by taking on initiatives, programs or events that have led to significant improvement for the Kenora Catholic District School Board and brought benefit directly or indirectly to students. The board typically awards two recipients with a Leadership Award. One for a Support Staff and one for a Teaching Staff. One of the criteria is that the recipient has to have been employed with the board for five years or more. However, this year a special exception was made to recognize the work and contributions of teacher, Sheila White from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. For 2017 the following individuals received a Leadership Award:

Excellence Award in Catholic Education

The Excellence in Catholic Education Award is awarded to individuals who really make a difference for students and everyone around them. These individuals work above and beyond their regular role and duties consistently and their work leads to significant improvement of the system and brings benefit directly or indirectly to students. The board awards two recipients with this award. For 2017 the following individuals received an Excellence Award in Catholic Education:

FISH Award

FISH Awards are a fun tradition of the Kenora Catholic District School Board and are presented to individuals who demonstrate the 'FISH Philosophy' while contributing to our School System. The FISH Philosophy is a life-long learning approach that inspires us to feel alive and engaged in the work we do. There are four simple but powerful practices that are the foundation of the FISH Philosophy:
