In honour of Local Government Week, Grade 5 student Carleigh, was selected to represent St. John School as Mayor for the Municipality of Red Lake. Carleigh was chosen because she demonstrates leadership and citizenship on a daily basis.
Carleigh said, "The best part of being Mayor for the Day was the 6:00 pm municipal meeting because I got to bang the gavel and I was given a certificate with the Mayor's signature."
Following her debut as Mayor Carleigh shared examples of how the Municipality supports youth through the development of parks, the splash pad and the skate park. Thank you to Mayor Phil Vinet for mentoring Carleigh and everyone at the Municipality for providing such a great learning experience for Carleigh.
