George Zegarac Deputy Minister of Education and Patti Pella Regional Manager for the Thunder Bay Region, Ministry of Education were at the Catholic Campus for meetings and a tour today (June 1, 2015).

The first tour was at St. Thomas Aquinas High School where members of the Aboriginal Leadership Team led the group throughout the school. They visited the foyer to view artwork and then went to the gym where a jigging lesson was taking place. Our Deputy Minister was an amazing sport and took part in the lessons along with the students and was videotaped jigging too. Howard Copenace from White Fish Bay First Nation was leading the lessons. The next stop was Mrs. Candline's class where a lunch program was being served and Mr. Zegarac was able to visit with students and listen some live music.

Pope John Paul II School was the next school toured. They visited an Ojibway class where the students were singing and doing group activities in the Ojibway language. Then they happened to be walking by when they noticed that a student was teaching a class. It was Dylan a grade 5 student who was teaching the grade Mrs. Gosselin's grade 2 class how to make dream catchers. The tour also included a visit to a JK/SK class.

Thank you to our students, principals and teachers for providing an amazing showcase of educational excellence for Deputy Minister George Zegarac.
