New Map of Canada Unveiled at St. Louis School
On April 15, 2015 The Honourable Greg Rickford unveiled the newest edition of the map of Canada at St. Louis School to a gymnasium filled with the entire school community of teachers and students. Minister Rickford unveiled the new map to the applause, cheers and excitement of the students as they were the first residents of Canada to see the new map. Following the unveiling Minister Rickford gifted the school with a large, framed edition of the map and provided each student in the school with their own copy of the map.
Minister Rickford visited Ms. Smith's Kindergarten classroom to talk about the Map of Canada and provide some learning. Ms. Smith's class has been studying maps for the past few weeks so the visit was perfectly timed with their studies. Minister Rickford also visited Mrs. Martineau's grade 6 class where he personally delivered maps for the class and talked about the critical role that communication plays in his role as Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario.
It was a wonderful privilege and experience for all the students to have Minister Rickford chose to unveil the new Map of Canada at St. Louis School.
