Registration is complete, and approximately 300 people will be participating in the 2017 Family Art Jamboree on Saturday, April 29th at Pope John Paul II School. This year is bigger than last year with 42 art sessions being offered by 14 local artists.

"There is a large variety of workshops this year including Anishinabe cultural sessions, movement and dance, pottery, tile, clay, paint as well as photography and film," says Tammy Bush, Early Years Lead. "My favorite part of the Family Art Jamboree is bringing together children and their families to engage in a joyful art experience."

Quick Facts:

  • This is the second year the Kenora Catholic District School Board has hosted the Family Art Jamboree.

  • Approximately 300 people have registered for the Family Art Jamboree. There are 14 artists and 42 sessions available.

  • The Family Art Jamboree is available for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 from all KCDSB elementary schools.

  • There are a variety of creative workshops this year from pottery, clay sun catchers, ink tile painting, fused glass, jigging and square dancing, drumming, beading, papermaking, creative movement, Zumba dance, scrapbooking, photography and filmmaking.

  • The event is hosted in partnership with the Lake of the Woods Art Community, the Ontario Arts Council and Kenora Online/Q104.

  • Nine community organizations have sponsored the Family Art Jamboree. The sponsors are: Copperfin Credit Union, CIBC, Designs that Fly, Broken Paddle Roasting House and Kitchen, Godbout Auto, Ristorante Pizzeria Italia, Jarnel Contracting, Lakeside Inn and Convention Center, Midnight Loon Glass

Media are invited to visit the Family Art Jamboree to take pictures and conduct interviews.
