To accommodate all the volunteers, Pinecrest is hosting two separate dinners.

Student Performance Times:

5:00 p.m. - Dinner #1

6:30 p.m. - Dinner #2

Location:

District of Kenora Home and Community Support Services - Pinecrest. 1220 Valley Drive

The theme for the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is "Heroes Amongst Us".

"This night is a really important opportunity for us to celebrate and serve the volunteers who give so much of their time and kindness to our clients, says Lynn Moffatt, Director of Community Support Services. The volunteers of the Pinecrest and Community Support Services programs are the true heroes as they dedicate their time to providing support in the home and the community. Their contributions add up to thousands of hours of volunteer time to programs and activities that benefit the clients and residents. They also provide a vital emotional and social connection to so many of our clients and resident."

Phyllis Eikre, Director of Education, talks about why this opportunity is important for the students.

"When Pinecrest approached us to ask if our students would be interested in providing the musical entertainment, we said absolutely. Our students are excited to perform for the volunteers. This event is another opportunity for our students to shine and share their gifts. Events like this show our students the value of volunteering and the significant role volunteers play in our community. Opportunities like this help prepare our students to give of themselves and take on these important roles. "

At the 5:00 p.m. dinner Jack Bush, a Grade 4 student from Pope John Paul II School will be performing the "Twix" song on acoustic guitar. Students from Pope John Paul II School will be performing a scene from their recent musical "Get in the Game" and then performing the song "I am a Champion", and the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Drummers will be performing a traditional song. At the 6:30 p.m. performance St. Louis School Choir, along with piano accompaniment from Ruth Girard, will be performing 'Look at the World", "I'se the By", and "I Have a Dream."
