New Principal Team Announced for Pope John Paul II School

The Kenora Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that there will be a new Principal, Vice Principal team at Pope John Paul II School. The board extends sincere congratulations to Victoria Swejda who has accepted the position of Principal and Tammy Bush who has accepted the position of Vice Principal. They will begin their new term at the beginning of the 2017/18 School Year.

I am excited to serve Pope John Paul II School along with Victoria in a leadership capacity."

  • Victoria has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Waterloo and Ontario. Victoria is also a specialist in Religious Education, Special Education and Guidance and Career Education
  • In 2012/13, Victoria Swejda was awarded the Director's Award of Excellence for Catholic Education.
  • Victoria has over 25 years of teaching experience and has taught in each of the four levels in grades ranging from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12
  • Victoria recently held the positon of Vice Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School
  • Tammy Bush has a Bachelor of Education and Arts from the University of Manitoba. Along with that, she brings specialists qualifications in Primary Education and the Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction. Tammy is qualified at the primary, junior and intermediate level and Native studies
  • In 2013/14, Tammy was awarded the Director's Award of Excellence for Catholic Education.
  • Tammy has over 21 years of experience in education and has held the roles of classroom teacher, Literacy Coach, Curriculum Coordinator, and System Early Years Lead
  • Tammy will retain her portfolio as System Early Years Lead when she assumes the Vice Principal role

Pope John Paul II School is a Catholic elementary school with a student enrollment of approximately 300 students. The school is focused on excellence in academics, the arts and athletics while developing a student's spirituality.
