Freedom of Information and Privacy

Freedom of Information and Privacy

The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) sets out rules that Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) must follow regarding the collection, use, retention, and disclosure of personal information. MFIPPA also establishes a right for individuals to access and request corrections to their personal information, as well as to access general records held by the school board.

Correction of Personal Information

If students or parents/guardians believe that personal information in the student’s records are inaccurate or not up to date, they have the right under both MFIPPA and the Education Act to request correction to personal record(s).

Freedom of Information Request (FOI)

MFIPPA’s dual purpose is to protect privacy and provide a right of access to information held by KCDSB. MFIPPA provides individuals, such as students and parents, with a right to access records of their own personal information.

If you are requesting information from your student’s Ontario Student Record (OSR), please contact the school directly.

If you are requesting access to information under MFIPPA that is in the custody and control of KCDSB, may submit an FOI request by completing the FOI Request Form and paying the mandatory $5.00 FOI fee. The FOI application may be submitted by email at [email protected] or mail at Kenora Catholic District School Board, 1292 Heenan Place, Kenora ON, P9N 2Y8.
