What is the role of the Catholic School Trustee?
Catholic School Trustees are members of the school board. They are elected every four years during the municipal election and are responsible for the governance of the school board. A Trustee's role is to maintain a focus on student achievement, well-being and equity and to participate in making decisions that benefit all students while representing the interests of their constituents.
They oversee the school board, establish the mission, vision and values and multi-year strategic plan, have fiscal responsibility and policy development implementation. Catholic School Trustees serve as ambassadors for the Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) and advocate for Catholic education.
The responsibilities of the Board of Trustees are set out in Ontario's Education Act.
