Despite the rainy weather, spirits were high as St. John Paul II School hosted its annual Fall Feast, a cherished celebration of gratitude, community, and culture. The event, originally planned to take place outdoors, was moved inside the gym, where laughter, music, and the aroma of traditional foods filled the air.

Students and staff from all Kenora Catholic District School Board schools joined together in the celebration, highlighting the unity and shared spirit that connects our school communities.

Following the prayer, blessing, and songs, everyone gathered to enjoy a traditional meal of wild rice soup, bannock, and fresh fruit, a feast representing both the bounty of the season and the importance of sharing together.

The feast began with a prayer and blessing led by Elder Jeanette Skead, who shared words of wisdom about gratitude, the land, and the importance of community. The moment was made even more special with the sound of traditional drumming, joined by two young student drummers from SJPII.

The Fall Feast was not just a meal, but a meaningful opportunity for students to experience and honour Indigenous culture and spiritual traditions, learning through community and gratitude.
The event reflected the ongoing commitment of the Kenora Catholic District School Board to create inclusive spaces where students can learn about and celebrate the diverse cultures that shape our shared community.
