Clareynze Ceria and Julia TkachukIncoming Student Trustee Team, Clareynze Ceria and Julia Tkachuk, received their Rite of Commissioning at the September 17th Board Meeting. The Commissioning was led by Religious Education and Family Life Coordinator Mariette Martineau.

The students lit their Christ candle and stood before the Board of Trustees and declared their belief in the importance of the Catholic school, as a community of faith, compassion and mercy and forgiveness. They declared their commitment to bring Christian leadership to their fellow students and to strive daily to live the values and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Clareynze talks about her role as Student Trustee. "It's an honour and a privilege to have an opportunity to meet the Trustees and have information before our teachers even know," said Clareynze Ceria talking about the Board Meetings. "I feel that it's important for me to be a role model, especially to the Grade 7's and 8's and ensure I am welcoming, so other people will come to me and ask questions about what is happening at St. Thomas Aquinas High School."

This is Clareynze's second year serving as Student Trustee and she will mentor, and support Julia Tkachuk throughout the year. Tkachuk will fill the role of mentor next school year in her second year as Student Trustee.

"It's been a whirlwind so far," said Tkachuk. "I'm excited to see where these next two years as Student Trustee takes me, and I'm honoured to be following in Clareynze and Dominique Novelli's footsteps."

Clareynze Ceria and Julia Tkachuk serve an essential role, representing the voice and interests of students across Kenora Catholic.
