The Nourishment Program at Pope John Paul II School was the recipient of a $9,500 grant courtesy of the Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation.

Principal Tammy Bush talked about why they applied for the grant.

“Our goal is for all of our children to reach their absolute amazing potential and to do everything within our power to ensure that any barriers in the way of that are eliminated so that only success remains. Our school values all our community partnerships which help us serve our community to meet the needs of students. Providing nutritious food for our students is one way in which the community foundation has partnered with our school. With COVID as an extra layer in food preparation costs, their support is very much appreciated. “She explained.

Bush said receiving the grant is a huge help to the school.

“We are so grateful for the support from the Community Foundation. Receiving funds to continue to provide nutritious meals for our community allows us to be able to focus on developing our student’s spiritual, academic, social and physical domains. Our students are all receiving nourishment to allow their brains to be focused on learning and communicating their thinking which is why we are all working together. The Community Foundation’s generosity levels the playing field for all our students and provides them with what they need to be successful.” She said.

The grant will help the Nourishment Program provide Covid-19 safe breakfast and lunch to students who need it.

The Nourishment Program is open to all students at Pope John Paul II School.
