Andrea SachowskiNew Vice Principal at SMB Andrea SachowskiThe Kenora Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce Andrea Sachowski has accepted the position of Vice Principal at École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys.

“This news demonstrates Kenora Catholic’s commitment to growing and developing leaders within our system,” says Derek Haime, Director of Education. “Changes in leadership provide valuable opportunities for growth and innovation both at the school and system level. Andrea is a welcome addition to our leadership team. She has been contributing to the success and excellence at École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys since 2010. She will infuse the position with her deep faith, positive attitude, and the devotion she has for engaging students to reach their full potential spiritually and academically.”

Sachowski will work closely with Superintendent of Instructional Services, Paul White, Principal, Hilary Aitken, and the rest of the Principal Leadership Team at Kenora Catholic. She will assume the role of French as a Second Language Lead under the mentorship and direction of Hilary Aitken. In June, Nicole Kurtz accepted a transfer into the Principal position at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and Hilary Aitken, accepted a transfer into the Principal position at École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys.

“I am excited to work with Andrea as the Vice Principal,” says Hilary Aitken. “Along with over a decade of experience teaching French, and leadership experience within the school, Andrea brings a deep commitment to student achievement, and well-being, family and community engagement. She is an amazing team player and has a passion for the French language and culture. I am confident that Andrea and I will work well together as we carry on Madame Kurtz’s legacy of empowering students to become the leaders of tomorrow.”

Andrea Sachowski will assume her new role at the start of the 2020 – 2021 school year.

“It is an absolute honour and privilege to accept the position of Vice Principal at École Ste-Margerite Bourgeoys and the French as a Second Language Lead for Kenora Catholic,” says Sachowski. “SMB is such a warm and welcoming school community, with fantastic staff and incredible students and families. I am also really looking forward to working closely with the French as a Second Language teachers across the board while putting a focus on the Renewed French Language Strategy.”

With well over 30 years of experience in French Immersion, Kenora Catholic’s program is widely recognized for its academic excellence and deep appreciation for the French language culture, bringing the dynamic Francophone culture into all classrooms.

The Board’s French Immersion program began in 1986 and has grown and evolved to where it is today, with many graduates of the program going on to use their French language for travel, leisure, post-secondary education or professional work environments. Students can begin their French Immersion education at École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys and graduate from St. Thomas Aquinas High School with a French Immersion Certificate.
