Student Trustee Julia Tkachuk explained.

“We really wanted to show everyone what it’s like in our schools since we can’t have visitors or family members coming in all the time like we normally would. We also wanted to highlight all the new precautions being taken through the perspective of the students so you can understand what a day-in-the-life is, and to show how students feel about wearing their masks, physical distancing, and using hand sanitizer 24/7,” she said.

“We also wanted to illustrate the innovative ways that schools have been adapting to keep students safe, like the magnets on the walls of the washrooms to keep numbers down so there isn’t a big party in there,” she added.

The video includes footage from inside all Kenora Catholic’s physical schools, and voices from students at each school.

The video premiered at the Oct. 20 board meeting. Trustee Frank Bastone thanked students for their contribution.

“I want to commend the students for, seemingly, making an easy adaptation to the new reality. To paraphrase, it’s not that big a deal we’re doing what we need to do. I just want to commend you all for that. You’re all troopers, you’re saints,” he said.
