Gallik takes over the role of chair from Frank Bastone

At the Inaugural Board Meeting of December 4th the trustees held their annual elections for the position of chair and vice chair. Following a vote by ballot, Teresa Gallik was elected as chair and Paul Landry was acclaimed as vice chair.

Gallik takes over the role of chair from Frank Bastone who held the position since 2012. Teresa Gallik has served as vice chair since 2016 and Paul Landry last held the position of vice chair in 2014.

Phyllis Eikre, Director of Education administered the Oaths of Allegiance and the Solemn Declarations to the six trustees who now comprise the Board of Trustees for December 1, 2018 -; November 14, 2022 term of office.

Quick Facts:

  • According to the Board's by-laws, elections to the office of Chair and Vice Chair of the Board takes place at the Annual Board Meeting in December of each year.
  • The Kenora Catholic District School Board Trustees consists of six elected Trustees and one First Nation Trustee position. The First Nation Trustee position is currently vacant.
  • The Board also has two student trustees who are elected by the students of St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
  • The term of the current Board of Trustees commenced on December 1, 2018, and will end on November 14, 2022.
  • The Board of Trustees meet the first Tuesday of each month for Policy Governance Committee Meetings and every third Tuesday of each month for their Regular Board Meetings.

According to the Board's Operating Policy, elections to the office of Chair and Vice Chair of the Board takes place at the Annual Board Meeting in December each year.
