There was a full turkey dinner served with all the fixings at Pope John Paul II School on Tuesday in celebration of Christmas. Students enjoyed turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, corn and even cranberry sauce as part of their Christmas dinner for lunch.

"The food was really good," said Grade 6 student Tatyana Sandy-Kasprick.

Students in all Grades and children in the daycare centre enjoyed their dinner on beautifully decorated tables. Grade 4 student Demi Minor explains what she liked about the special lunch.

"It's fun because you get to see all friends that are in different classes and you can see your brothers or sisters," she said.

Daniella Novak was in charge of cooking the dinner and she spoke about why it's important to do something like this at the school.

"It creates a sense of community. The kids love to be together and this helps get everyone in the Christmas spirit. It's really nice," she said.

Children looked extra festive as it was also Wear Your Santa Hat to School Day. There are only three days left until the Christmas break.
