Students in Grade 5 at Pope John Paul II School asked some good questions of Green Party candidate, Kirsi Ralko, during a fun meet and greet at the school on Thursday. The Grade 5 class is currently studying the Canadian Government unit and is taking a closer look at the upcoming federal election.

Ralko introduced herself to the students and spoke a bit about the Green party's platform

"Our party believes the planet is warming up too quickly and we need to do something to stop that," she said. "The Green party also believes that everyone should be able to go to College or University for free and we want to support small businesses. We also believe that big corporations should pay their fare share of taxes so that everybody can have things like universal health care and prescription drugs."

Afterwards Ralko took questions form students that included everything from "Why do you think you'd be a good rep?" to "What do you think of the other candidates?" and "If you had to run for another party which one would it be and why?"

The students have been studying the other candidates in the riding as well as the party platforms on a national scale. The federal election takes place on Monday, October 21st.
