The Kenora Catholic Early Years Arts Festival was once again a big success with approximately 150 parents and children exploring the arts together at Pope John Paul II School.

"We are so lucky to have such talented artists in our community who are willing to come and share their gifts with us. To see the joy on the children's faces as they discover a new art is just so much fun," said organizer and Early Years Lead at Kenora Catholic, Marnie Buffett.

The event is geared towards families with young children and is an opportunity for them to try a variety of different art mediums from music to painting to dance and more.

"It's a great event for younger children because there is no rigid structure. They are welcome to explore whatever art they're interested in and to stay as long as they want or move on to another station," said Buffett.

This year saw a wide variety of stations including drumming, robot painting, puppets, yoga, photography, building gnome domes and fairy castles, sketching, Jingle Dress dancing, a live band, painting with watercolours and spray bottles, and of course the ever popular giant cardboard forts.

The event welcomes artists from the community to run the stations and share their talents with families. This event is open to all children in Northwestern Ontario and does not require any registration in advance. Snacks are also provided throughout the day.
