St. Thomas Aquinas High School has a new art installation in the foyer. The display features a live wall spelling the word HOPE and six floating angels., and was inspired by this year’s Catholic Education Week theme – Nurturing Hope.

The Kenora Catholic District School board is working on a cultural achievement success and engagement program, in partnership with Wauzhushk Onigum Nation, and with funding from Jordan’s Principal.

It isn’t everyday you can present your ideas to one of the country’s top officials, but St. Thomas Aquinas High School student Amelia Illman did just that on February 5, 2021.

Kenora Catholic and Grand Council Treaty #3 are working together on a restorative justice system for students.

St. John School is inviting families to visit the school grounds to walk a path of lights. Families can view student artwork and decorations, and there will be hot chocolate and candy canes!

The Nourishment Program at Pope John Paul II School was the recipient of a $9,500 grant courtesy of the Lake of the Woods Community Foundation.

Christmas is such a wonderful time of year in Catholic schools. They prepare many different events to help spread cheer and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

St. Isidore Virtual School has come a long way since the start of the school year. They have adopted a name, a logo, and are creating a community.

Pope John Paul II School is making Christmas Spirit a priority. From their giant Christmas Tree in the foyer of the school, to the Christmas events taking place leading up to winter break, to door decorations, students and staff cannot help but feel the Christmas cheer.

Nurturing Hope: Infecting the World with Compassion

At their monthly board meeting last week Kenora Catholic District School Board Trustees were given a presentation on a program called Xello, which is used as a tool to help students in Grades 6 to 12 identify career paths that may suit them.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board Mental Health Team held a Virtual Parent Night Presentation on attendance and why it’s so important. The team spoke to parents and caregivers about the importance of attending school, and how detrimental too many absences can be to academic performance.

The Kenora Catholic Mental Health Team is happy to provide the Kids in the Know Program to students at KCDSB. Kids in the know is a K to Grade 10 program and is available to any classroom within the KCDSB. The target grades this school year are K, Grade 2, Grade 4 and Grade 6.

Kenora Catholic students have been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day, and have been working on creative ways to express their gratitude.

November 1-7 is Treaties Recognition Week. This annual event honours the importance of treaties and helps students and residents of Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships.

Grade 6 students at St. Louis Living Arts School have been participating in a writing workshop with Curriculum Coordinator Dallis Novelli.

Students at St. Isidore Virtual School are working on doing activities together, while apart.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board in partnership with student trustees Julia Tkachuk and Maxwell Froese have created a short video highlighting the new heath and safety measures put in place at schools, through the eyes of students.

Thanks to help from a $7,000 grant from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, St. Louis Living Arts School is on the road to creating their own Beekeeping Club.
