This is the image for the news article titled Dynamic Directions Career Fair a HitThe first Dynamic Directions Career Fair was a hit with students at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. The career fair brought in local business owners or workers to speak directly with students about what led them down that path.

Grade 8 student Logan Bowlin explains what types of questions she was asking the community members.

"I've just been asking them about their hours, what a typical day would look like. What skills do they need to go into this profession or qualifications, just learning more about it," she said.

Students were able to wander around from booth to booth to speak to the different business men and women.

Allyson Peele is the Manager of the Northwest Business Centre and she thinks the career fair was a great idea.

" There's been so much foot traffic and students are coming with questions which is awesome. I talked to a lot of students about entrepreneurship and they were surprised it was a career option. That was neat to see and hopefully as they get older they realize there are great opportunities in our community," she said.

The fair was set up in the foyer from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Bowlin said she enjoyed the concept.

"I liked it. For someone who doesn't know what they want to do, it just kind of opens your mind. It was nice to see the options and if it sparks an interest then you can have an idea of what you need to get there," she said.

The aim of the fair is create something similar to a living library where students can actually learn about something from another person instead of a textbook. This was the first of what will maybe become an annual event at the high school.
