The program created 15 additional, licensed, childcare spaces for children 18 months to 2.5 years of age.

Kelly Williams is the Senior Director of Children's Services, and she spoke about the importance of their partnership with the school.
"I think that it's really nice now that early childhood is seen as part of the continuum of education for children. We're not babysitting children. We are part of educating and teaching the children in those early years. That's a great partnership, and I think being inside the schools has promoted that for families," she said.

In 2018, the Kenora Catholic District School Board received $403,333 from the Ministry of Education to work in partnership with the Kenora Association for Community Living to retrofit Pope John Paul II School to accommodate the expansion of the Toddler Program at KidZone PJP II Childcare Centre.

Pope John Paul II School also has a Pre-School Program that opened in September 2017, which is licensed for 16 children aged 2.5 years to 4 years.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board has Childcare centers, operated by licensed Childcare providers, at Pope John Paul II School, École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys, and St. John School and before-and after-school programs at all of its elementary schools.
